Old Hundred

Out of Columbus Ohio, Old Hundred’s debut album was released at the end of last year in November. Shame as it probably won’t make it onto any best-of-the-year lists at the end of ’11. It’s that good. The band was founded by Blake Skidmore in early ’09, augmented by Nate Gelinas and Jon Helm who headed west from Boston, and rounded out by another Columbus resident, Hal Hixson, and most recently voilinist Sally Loiuse Polk. The 10 tracks cover a lot of ground, including the languid country of “Babe Sweet Darlin’,” driving urgency of album standout “Good Timin’ Man,” sweet folk of “Stony Pass,” and dark rock of “Clouds.”

Here’s the kick off track “A Thousand Times”
